The Meriden Jail is a type 1 correctional facility at the Meriden in New Haven County. This jail is under the supervision of the Meriden Police Office. The facility holds pre-sentenced male inmates or female prisoners for up to 3 days as they await a court hearing, release or transfer to the New Haven County Inmate Retention Center or the Meriden Women’s Jail respectively. Likewise, the city jail detains juveniles for booking, and keeps them there as they wait to be picked by their guardians or transfer to the Juvenile Hall or Meriden Hall.

Sending Money
All inmates at the Meriden Jail have access to a Commissary account. Here, the inmates can receive money in the form of cash, check, or money order from members of the public. These funds are essential for paying for personal supplies from the kiosk. Anyone sending funds to an inmate should indicate the full names of the inmates and their inmate ID at the back of the money order or check slip.
Phone calls
Inmates at the Meriden Jail can make 15-minutes long call collect to friends or family members as per an approved list. Here, the receiver bears the full cost of the call. Still, the inmate may use money from their Commissary accounts to cater for the costs of the call. Phone calls are limited to between 7 am and 7.30 pm.
Visitation
Any inmate that has been at t the Meriden Jail for at least 24 hours is allowed to meet visitors. These 15-minutes long visits take place between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day.
