The Savannah River Challenge Program is the former Sylvania Correctional Center located in Sylvania, Georgia. Supervised by the Georgia Department of Corrections, this facility holds inmates charged with state felonies and conducts parole or probation supervision. Further, it runs numerous rehabilitative programs including, counseling, anger management, sex offender treatment, and dealing with substance abuse. The inmates can take part in basic educational programs and professional skills training that will facilitate their reentry into society. This medium and maximum security correctional center is one of the largest prisons in Georgia. It has a death row cell blocks and an execution chamber.

The detention center restricts delivery of all mails and packages to the facility via the United States Postal Service. These correspondences are opened and inspected for contraband before being dispatched to the inmates.

Sending Money

Inmates at the Savannah River Challenge Program are allowed to buy personal items from the prison canteen or commissary. For this, they utilize funds in their Commissary accounts, deposited by their friends and family members. The prison allows JPay and MoneyGram for the funds transfer. Phone calls

Savannah River Challenge Program, through the Georgia Department of Corrections, has contracted Securus Technologies for inmate telephone services. Here, the inmates are allowed to make monitored call collect to anyone in the approved members’ list. The call receiver bears the full cost of the call. The prison prohibits incoming calls, call forwarding, or three-way calls.

Visitation

Savannah River Challenge Program’s inmate visitation time happens every Saturdays and Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm. Here, inmates receive up to 4 persons (including children) per visit as from the approved list. These are face to face visits with the exception of an inmate from the administrative segregation or the working cellblock. These last two offenders get non-contact visits only. Get in touch with the prison at least 1 day before the visit to get an approval.
