Inmates at the Cook County Jail can send and receive mail from their friends, and family members as per the approved members' list. Still, to uphold the safety and security of all persons at the facility, all incoming mails and packages are opened and checked upon arrival. Likewise, any mail or package containing contraband or violating the Main Jail’s procedures shall be returned or destroyed upon arrival. For ease of disbursement of the correspondence to the large inmate population, senders are advised to include the inmates X-reference number and housing location on the mailing address. Sending Money

All inmates at the Cook County Jail have access to the Commissary inmate account. Here, the inmates can receive and spend funds from their family members and friends. The senders deposit cash, check or money orders, quoting the inmates full names and ID at the back of the check or money order. Then, the inmates can use the funds to purchase personal items from the jail’s kiosk.

Phone calls

As inmates at the Cook County Jail go through the booking process, they are entitled to make one free call to their friends and loved ones. Afterwards, they shall have access to 15-minutes phone calls to anyone from the approved members’ list.

Visitation

Inmates at the Cook County Jail are allowed two, 45-minutes visitations each week between 7.30 am and 2.30 pm then later in the evening between 4.30 pm and 9.30 pm. Up to three visitors that include infants and children can see the inmates at the same time. The adult visitor must produce a valid proof of identification and provide proof of relationship with the infant or child.
