The Lexington Jail is temporary holding facility and processing center for the Lexington Police Department in 150 East Main Street, Lexington, KY, 40507. In turn, the facility aims at facilitating a speedy and fair transition for inmates entering the Kentucky criminal justice system. Arrestees remain in-custody for a maximum of 24 hours at this Holding Facility under the supervision of the detention officers.

To search for an inmate held at the Lexington Jail, members of the public can call the Lexington Jail using the Information line 859-258-3600. When calling, the member of the public should state the arrestee’s full names and birth date. Likewise, individuals can call the CoreCivic at 859-258-3600 and indicate the inmate’s full names, date of birth, and booking number.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s office, through the Lexington Detention Facility, receives mails and packages for inmates held at the Lexington Jail. Members of the public are to address the mail or package as follows: -

All incoming and outgoing mail and packages are opened and inspected for contraband. Any incoming mail that bears a professional letterhead is to be opened in front of the inmate.

Sending Money

Inmates at the Lexington Jail are allowed to spend up to $100 on commissary items. Therefore, a member of the public may deposit funds to the inmate’s commissary account via: -

  • Cash or credit card deposits at the Detention Lobby kiosk

  • Credit card deposits via phone at 859-258-3600

  • Online credit card deposits at www.accesscorrections.com

Phone calls

Inmates are not allowed to receive any phone calls while held at the Lexington Jail. Instead, the inmates can make collect calls or regular calls from their ICS phone account. The recipient should make prior arrangements with their telephone service provider so that the collect calls are not automatically blocked.

Visitation

Only inmates that have been in the Lexington Detention Facility for at least 72 hours are eligible for visitation. In turn, arrestees are not allowed any visitation while in custody at the Holding Facility. To get further details about the inmate’s visitation, members of the public can contact the Lexington Detention Facility by calling the Jail Information line at 859-258-3600.
