The Shreveport City Jail, located at 755 Hope Street, Shreveport, LA, 71101, is the third-largest temporary jail in the state of Louisiana. This medium to maximum security city jail is under the supervision of the Caddo Parish County Sheriff. It books at least 200 inmates each year and houses up to 200 inmates at a time. As a type I facility, it keeps inmates for one to three days before they are taken to court for arraignment, post bail, or released on their recognizance.

Sending Money

Inmates at the Shreveport City Jail may need money to purchase some items from the commissary or the canteen. For this, members of the public can send money to the inmates via money order only.

Visitation

Inmate visitation at the Shreveport City Jail is via a video conferencing system. Below are the visitation hours for individuals held at the Shreveport City Jail depending on the criminal charges they face: -

  • Misdemeanor 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Daily

  • Trustee 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Daily

Each visit is 15 minutes long. One adult is allowed per visit. Also, a child, accompanied by a legal guardian, is allowed to visit an inmate at the Shreveport City Jail. An exception is to this rule is for attorneys and members of the clergy who can visit the inmates on any day of the week, 24 hours a day. For identification, the visitors should bring valid photo identification.
