To search for an inmate held at the Somerville City Jail, members of the public can call the Somerville Jail using the Information line 617-625-1600. When calling, the member of the public should state the arrestee’s full names and birth date. Likewise, individuals can call the CoreCivic at 617-625-1600 and indicate the inmate’s full names, date of birth, and booking number.

The Middlesex County Sheriff’s office, through the Somerville Detention Facility, receives mails and packages for inmates held at the Somerville City Jail. Members of the public are to address the mail or package as follows: -

All incoming and outgoing mail and packages are opened and inspected for contraband. Any incoming mail that bears a professional letterhead is to be opened in front of the inmate.

Inmates at the Somerville City Jail are allowed to spend up to $100 on commissary items. Therefore, a member of the public may deposit funds to the inmate’s commissary account via: -

Inmates are not allowed to receive any phone calls while held at the Somerville City Jail. Instead, the inmates can make collect calls or regular calls from their ICS phone account. The recipient should make prior arrangements with their telephone service provider so that the collect calls are not automatically blocked.

Only inmates that have been in the Somerville Detention Facility for at least 72 hours are eligible for visitation. In turn, arrestees are not allowed any visitation while in custody at the Holding Facility.
